IT’S VALENTINE’S DAY YO! On this episode we chat about the things we love to do to celebrate our loved ones. We chat marriage, movies, our favorite date ideas and of course…tacos.

We also talk about painting brick, in particular fireplaces, because YES. It sounds daunting, but it’s really not that hard to tackle. AND it can transform your space. So if you have an old fireplace that has a brick color that cramps your style, you might want to consider giving it a fresh coat of paint!

DANNETTE’S SUNROOM:

Before we start with the horrible before picture, please enjoy this photo of the table that sits in front of the wood stove. This little wire spool/table has been moved around quite a bit in this house, but at present is parked in front of the wood stove. Usually it has crayons and homework on it, but today it’s all gussied up for a photo shoot.

Now on to the before photo…like way before. This is actually a shot from the realtor before we moved in. As you can see, it’s a dark room. The walls and ceilings are all wood, the floors are gray, and the fireplace just gets lost. And the flowery drapes? Well, we thought about going all Julie Andrews and making them into play clothes for our kids … but decided we already have WAY too many projects with this old house.

And this is the fireplace AFTER — with still only a coat of primer.

CLIENT’S FIREPLACE & FOYER:

Here’s the Foyer before. Very dark.

And here is the Foyer AFTER. We had the fireplace, the railing and the front door painted. And we switched the foyer light out for an old one the Client had in their garage. Such an improvement!
